Moorea

We are anchored in Moorea in beautiful, turquoise waters. This island looks exactly like the photos. It is very lush and green with rugged volcanic peaks. Yesterday we went on a long hike (8 miles) up to a high viewpoint. Was a beautiful view but today I am very, very sore! We leave this afternoon for an overnight passage to Huahine (another island in French Polynesia).

I went to Moorea in 1987 stayed at the Club Med resort and went pearl shopping. rented a car for 4 hours, ha the island is so small a scooter would have been better. pearl shopping was fun, but once I left one pearl shop, they called the one down the road that I was coming... no collusion here... it was still fun, and I still love my pearl. snorkel for some oysters and BBQ them.. absolutely yummy.

Sounds fabulous! How are the beaches? Are they sandy or just lumpy lava and coral?

Patty....
Beaches thus far have been sandy tho' small. No shells. Saw (live) sea urchins all over the bottom in Taha'a.
